Sega Launches a Website for Judgement With a Countdown that Ends on May 7

For those who thought that Sega was potentially done with one of their spin-off games, we have some exciting news for you. The company has just launched a brand new website dedicated to Judgementwhich is a spin-off title of the Yakuza franchise. The site itself has a giant countdown timer set to end on May 7 at 7:00 am PDT, along with the name of “Judgement Day” underneath. Sega has also linked their YouTube channel at the bottom which has the same countdown.

This has led the fan base to run rampant with speculation. One of the more prominent predictions is that this will lead to the announcement of a full fledged sequel, continuing the story of our favorite private detective Takayuki Yagami. The game was also re-released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Google Stadia just day ago, furthering the rumor of another possible entry on the horizon.

Sega initially launched Judgement in 2018 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in their native Japan. It received an international release a few months later in June 2019. Despite having a lot of different game mechanics from the parent franchise Yakuza, Judgement was well received by both players and reviewers with most of the praise being directed towards the investigation mode. The game did keep the same fighting mechanics that the Yakuza series is known for, something that Yakuza: Like Dragon completely removed when it launched later in the same year.

It will be interesting to see just what Sega has planned for Judgement on the aptly named Judgement Day. Thankfully we won’t have to wait too long to find out, as May 7 is only a couple of weeks away. You can check out the YouTube channel with the countdown here, where it will end on May 7 at 7:00 am PDT.
