In a series of Tweets by Japanese Twitter user knmkare_wani, it appears that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios don’t have any plans for the Judgement series moving forward.
The Judgment series is over. 🥀
A staff said the series feels like it’s over FOR NOW. But the characters might show up in their future works.
RIP Judgment. https://t.co/unlbqYWMXy pic.twitter.com/qEvqp6K3Kf

A common joke being passed around is that RGG Studios actually “Lost Judgement”, which is pretty funny but the overall news on this is kind of depressing. Judgement and Lost Judgement were both well received games that hearkened back to Yakuza’s traditional beat-em-up gameplay while also maintaining a new cast of extremely likable characters and really coming up as a breath of fresh air in the ocean of Majima spinoffs and Kiryu cameos. But that all appears to be over now.
…though it might not be the case. You’ve got to keep in mind this is a tweet from January from an unofficial Japanese twitter account with an anecdote that’s translated through Twitter’s infamously buggy AI assistant, and is likely only making the rounds now because someone on Twitter found it and assumed it was announced from this year’s RGG Summit (which hasn’t even happened yet, it was merely announced today that the RGG Summit would be happening on September 24, 2025). There’s a decent amount of context missing and in just this quote alone there’s potential for a future; note how it says, “for now”.

But despite all that, the sentiment that Judgement is now over has swept social media and, honestly, that might be the case. There’s a precedent for Judgement as a series getting off the ground, largely due to main character Takayumi Yagami’s face model, Takuya Kimura, being managed by Johnny & Associates (having since been split into Smile-Up and Starto Entertainment), a talent agency that is infamously hard to work with. This agency has likely added fuel to the fire of rumors that Judgement as a series is over, though it’s unknown if Starto Entertainment is as difficult to work with as Johnny & Associates was.
All-in-all, it’s probably best to just wait until the RGG Summit in September for official news and official panels in regards to the future of the Judgement series. A lot of news like this that you’ll find on social media are usually several degrees out of context, and merely passionate fans latching on to news and playing a game of telephone with it.
