Like most things mysterious, slightly terrible, and simultaneously lovely, Reddit leaked glimmer at a probable sequel for popular French indie game, Life is Strange. While doing an interview on the budding cultural importance of video games for children and young adults, prominent writer and script doctor, Alain Damasio, hinted at the distant possibility for Life is Strange 2, which he showed interest in working on. The interview can be found in its entirety here, and it is definitely worth the read for those interested in something poignant on gaming culture. While exhilarating, the news does not come as too big a shock due the amount of sale and hype accumulated over the course of its five episode run (which we covered previously, for episodes 4 and 5, respectively) . Critically acclaimed for its art, story, and setting, LiS also captured the hearts and wallets of many by virtue of its mysterious indie nature–and helping hand from big title developer Square Enix. Each individual episode received a fair amount of praise, and left fans wanting more. it is currently unknown whether this new game will follow the same characters, utilize the unique setting of Arcadia Bay, or follow a similar story formula. WIthout an official announcement from neither Square Enix, nor Dontnod Entertainment, it is impossible to tell what we might be able to expect. And perhaps that is best. The most titillating element of LiS was the element of the strange, mysterious unknown lurking just beyond what we could see, propelling us forward still into the dark in search of the answers. Regardless of the outcome, it is exciting to see an emerging indie developer build on the expanding fan base and positive feedback. Hopefully we will continue to see the quality work from them that has made us so amped to download their episodes after each painful wait for installment.
