Rumor: Tekken 8’s Launch Date May Have Been Leaked

One of the most anticipated fighting games to come out in recent years may have just had its launch date leaked. One of the most prominent date leakers, Aggiornamenti Lumia, posted to their X account the apparent release date for the title, January 26, 2024. This leak comes off of both the incoming Gamescom event, Opening Night Live, as well as Tekken series Director Katsuhiro Harada stating earlier this week that some “minor leaks” may have been passed around the internet and to disregard them as they are “old information” that has been changed or deleted.

The leaker, Aggiornamenti Lumia, has been known to delve into the backdoor of various digital storefronts in order to look for release date information. In addition, the apparent leak was taken from none other than the Microsoft Store, which is for PC and the Xbox family system. For the better part of a few months, there has been several leaks, roster updates, and other tidbits of information coming out in regards to the title. However, this is the first real time that an actual release date has been made known in any sort of capacity.

On top of that, the fact that the title is expected to make a showing at Gamescom, and that the information was taken just before this event only emphasizes and fuels the leak even more. Tekken 8 was initially teased at last year’s EVO, and then officially revealed during the September edition of Sony’s State of Play event. We then got an official gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2022. What followed was who’s who of fighters being revealed over the course of over eight months. This includes Marshall Law, Hwoarang, and Bryan Fury, among some other long time stalwarts. Hopefully, Harada and company will make the January 26, 2024 date official.
