Rumor: Possible Leak of Nintendo NX Controller

According to Destructiod, today we might have gotten a leaked image at a possible Nintendo NX controller.  Speculations for the NX have been circulating for some time now, so it’s important to understand this is just a rumor.

The image above is the supposed leaked controller.  While we were expecting some sort of handheld-console hybrid, I can certainly say that I did not expect a design like this.  The controller could possibly be a sort of touch screen device, something that Nintendo is certainly familiar with, but what’s interesting are the two thumb pads on each side.  Nintendo stated that they would be focusing on more mobile titles, and I think one of the biggest criticism with mobile gaming is that lack of feedback from touch screen controls.  If the controller pictured above is the real deal, perhaps this is Nintendo’s way of combining touch screen and analog controls to their next console.  If you look on the top of the controller there is something that could possibly be a camera.  Judging by the thickness of the charger, the controller could have some decent heft to it unlike regular smartphone.

Destructoid also reported around December 2015 about some alleged patents for the NX (pictured above).  The leaked image does share similarities to the patent sketches, however the leaked image controller is missing the handles.  Of course, all of these images should be taken with grain of salt, but it will be interesting if these images are real or not.  After all, Nintendo has had their history of leaked information and Nintendo fans have been pretty dubious with fake leaks.  According to the Destructoid article there isn’t any noticeable photoshopped elements to the picture, although the lighting sources are a little inconsistent.  Whatever the situation with this image is, the buildup to the NX has gotten me more interested in the console, and perhaps this is all an elaborate move by Nintendo to build up hype (but probably not).
