This week saw the launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition which brings together Rockstar Games’ classic trilogy of Grand Theft Auto games, GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas. The games are remastered with enhanced visuals and an updated player experience. However, the launch has been rough. Rockstar Game pulled the PC version of the game for sale, and the various graphical issues, bugs, and progression crashes have caused customers to demand refund for the game.
The Rockstar Support website has had a long list of refund requests. Those who wish for a refund can submit a web ticket by giving the order email address, purchase date, and Rockstar order number. You can’t submit a ticket for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, but you can submit one for the individual games. On Rockstar Support’s Twitter, there have been a lot of requests for a refund too.
After Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launched exclusively on the Rockstar Games Launcher, the Launcher went offline. This caused not only The Trilogy to be unplayable, but every other game on the Launcher. Rockstar later tweeted that maintenance was the reason for the Launcher and the supported titles to be temporarily offline.
Today, Rockstar said that the game was pulled from sale on PC to remove files unintentionally included.
Everyone in the gaming community is saying that this situation feels similar to what happened to Cyberpunk 2077. Like The Definitive Edition, many requested refunds. The situation became so bad that something unprecedented happened. The game was taken off of The PlayStation Store and wouldn’t be reinstated until months later.
