Rocket League Update Adds New Custom Training Mode

To help players get better at Rocket League, Psyonix announced that they would be implementing a new game mode, well, to do just that. In the New Creative Training Mode, players will find themselves learning how to do what only the elite’s of the game can accomplish.

In the blog post released earlier today, Psyonix announced some crucial details about their effort to help players reach their true potential. In addition to the normal training guides, players will now have the option to create their own customized training experience. The ultimate goal is for players to hone in their skills and be able to rise up and challenge the elites.

In order to create a one of a kind training map, players must:

  1. A name for your creation.

  2. Which map you want to train in.

  3. What type of training sequence it is (Striker or Goalie).

  4. How difficult it’s going to be (Rookie, Pro, All-Star).

  5. Which “tags” best describe your training sequence (Dribbling, Wall Shots, etc.)

Once that is done players will be able to,

Get down to editing your sequence in-game.  What you’ll see first is your ‘Shot List’ that contains every shot you’ve set up as part of your new sequence.  From here you can pick a shot to edit, add new shots, or delete ones you don’t want to keep. Editing a specific shot is the most important aspect of this new feature. You can place the car and the ball wherever you want on the field and you can specify the direction and speed of the ball with a full trajectory preview that helps you plan things out. Each shot can be tested in real-time, modified, and tested again to make it quick and easy to develop your new training sequence.
After all the finishing touches are made, the last thing on your to do list will be to upload your creation. One that is finished, a number code will be created, allowing the creator to share their custom training mode with everyone. As of now there is no date as to when the update will be released. It is also important to note that the first version of the new mode will not be cross-platform. Any training sequence created will stay on the platform it was created on for the time being.
