Earlier today, Nacon released a series of trailers for their upcoming projects, one of them being the new RoboCop: Rogue City. This game is based on the RoboCop film that was released in 1987 by director Paul Verhoeven and later readapted in 2014 by José Padilha. According to Engadget, this will be an original story following the titular RoboCop, as he stops crime throughout the streets of Detroit. RoboCop: Rogue City is set to release sometime in September 2023.
The trailer itself came with a tweet from Nacon, releasing a bit of an idea of what to expect with the gameplay. In the tweet Nacon states:
“Follow the part man, part machine in this gameplay trailer combining detective work and gory shoot-outs. You can get your hands on #RoboCopRogueCity in September 2023.”
The trailer released supports this idea, following RoboCop as he goes around the city, scanning for danger and crime. The specific crime RoboCop follows in the trailer is a drug bust in the basement of an arcade. Over a minute of the trailer is spent following a gory shootout before the title drops, followed by RoboCop taking pride in giving someone a parking ticket. The over-the-top violence presented throughout this trailer gives fans of the series a good sense of how faithful this game will be to the original movie.
All of this being said, there has been a bit of disappointment from the news today, as according to Digitaltrends, the game was originally set to release in June 2023 after its announcement back in June of 2021. The setback, while small, is still a test of patience for those itching to get their hands on the game, which they will now have to wait another three months for. That said, the trailer promises to bring a lot of the charms that came with the RoboCop franchise, which fans can get their hands on in September 2023.
