It looks like publisher Devolver Digital and developer Terrible Toybox aren’t done bringing Return to Monkey Island to other systems just yet. The publisher has announced that one of 2022’s most critically acclaimed entries will be making its way to the newer generation of hardware consoles. Return to Monkey Island will officially release for both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/Series S next week on November 8. The game will also be available through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
It’s important to note that the title, for the time being, is not going to be released for the previous generation, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. That could all change in a heartbeat, but as of this writing, Return to Monkey Island is making its way to the current home console market only. As we also mentioned earlier, the game will make it’s way to the Xbox Game Pass, which is Microsoft’s subscription service that allows players to play titles on their library as long as they’re still a member.
Return to Monkey Island is of course the long-awaited next entry in the all-time classic point-and-click adventure series that was long thought dormant until this year. It was so successful that it has become the fastest-selling entry in franchise history, which is an insane achievement considering that the game has been out for only a little more than a month. The game initially launched for PC and the Nintendo Switch, but now that it will be more readily available on the newer PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the overall sales numbers are more than likely going to increase exponentially.
