Resident Evil Village has a confirmed release date for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPad, set for October 30th. Capcom announced the release date news during the Tokyo Game Show this past weekend.
iPhone 15 Pro users can download the games for free but will need to pay full price of $59.99 to unlock the full game. There also will be in-app purchases up to $39.99 for more content seen on the console versions.
Both Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake will support screen controls, a gaming controller and can be connected to a display port via the iPhone 15 Pro USB-C port, to output at 4K/ 60fps with compatible displays.
First announced during the Apple Event earlier this month, Apple touted the new iPhone 15 Pro’s improved internals, with the updated A70 Pro chip along with a new GPU and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Doing so, Apple claims that AAA console games like RE Village will run smoothly on a smartphone.
Other AAA games Apple has confirmed are coming to the iPhone 15 Pro and select iPadOS models include Resident Evil 4 Remake, Death Stranding, Assassins Creed Mirage, and The Division Resurgence. There’s currently no release date for most of the titles, however, Resident Evil 4 Remake will make its way to the iPhone 15 Pro before the end of this year.
Apple has made a big push into gaming in recent years, updating its software to bring gaming mode to MacOS devices for enhanced and smoother gameplay. As well, Apple has made it easier for developers to port over PC games to MacOS devices. It wouldn’t come as a surprise now to see even more AAA previously unthinkable to be running on a smartphone to be announced in the coming months.
It remains to be seen how well the iPhone 15 Pro will run Resident Evil Village, along with the other AAA titles coming in the months ahead. However, Apple is betting big that these games will bring console experiences to our pockets.
