Resident Evil HD Remaster Launching on Steam Early 2015

The survivor horror game that has sold over 61 million copies, Resident Evil looks to have received a HD remake that has shown up on Steam, with a PC version release scheduled for Early 2015. You can see some of the difference between the PC version and the original Gamecube remake version in the image below, plus the steam page for Resident Evil HD Remaster promises for some pretty great features to come in this remake, but still retains the horror in the game. It will also be coming onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

The original game was released back in 1996 on the PlayStation, with the remake that was released back in 2002 as a Gamecube exclusive, and the fans asked for yet another remake, and the producers have answered the fans wishes. In the HD remake we should be expecting some pretty great graphics, that will make the game even more scary and real with both graphics and sound combined.

Haven’t played the original version or the remake yet? Will what are you waiting for then? In Resident Evil, players come into a game that is set in 1998 and you are part of a special forces team that has been given orders to go investigate the murders that have been happening on the outskirts of Racoon City. What do they find there? Well you could say a pack of blood-thirsty dogs, which makes you come into a nearby mansion. Though in any horror movie, you know that isn’t just a coincidence that this mansion was nearby, because if you could smell from the game itself as you play, you’ll smell horror and death. Now that you are having to take cover in this mansion, you find out that while you are trying to stay alive in this mansion there aren’t many supplies around.

Some examples of the features you will experience includes new post-processing effects and also the resolution of the background environments has been upgraded as you can see from the image above. It will also support widescreen, plus it will scroll to see parts of the screen that will get cut off due to the ratio change.

The follow are the features that have been listed so far in the Resident Evil HD Remaster from the Steam page:

Graphics

  • More detailed graphics that retain the horror.
  • The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models.
  • Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic.
  • High-Resolution Environments – We’ve increased the resolution of the background environments by recreating them with a mix of high-res static images, plus animated 3D models.

Widescreen Support

  • Widescreen (16:9) is supported, so players can experience a greater sense of immersion.
  • In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character’s position.
  • You can switch the display mode during gameplay in real time.

Sound & New Controls

  • High-Quality Sound – The audio has been remastered to increase the sampling rate, and of course 5.1ch output is also now supported.
  • New Controls
  • You can play using the original control scheme or an alternate control scheme that lets you just push the analog stick to move in the direction you want to go.
  • You can switch the control scheme during gameplay in real time.
