With 2016 being the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom decided to celebrate by remastering the latter half of the Resident Evil series (4, 5 and 6). And it looks like they will be doing it in reverse order, since RE 6: Remastered released a few months ago .
According to the Xbox Store page, fans can play the mildly well received game on June 28th. Like any good remaster, RE 5: Remastered will include all DLC released for the game including the originally PC-exclusive No Mercy Mode. The game will also come with four character costumes and new mode Mercenaries United which is a mix of the Mercenaries and The Mercenaries Reunion modes.
Aside from all the extra content, the game will be getting a new coat of paint with the jump to a crisp 1080p resolution and a 60fps frame rate.
The same can be said for Resident Evil 6 remaster and presumably Resident Evil 4 which has yet to get a release date.
We reported earlier that Capcom has big plans for the 20th anniversary so another possible reason for the RE remasters is to garner interest in the upcoming Resident Evil 7, which has been heavily rumored to make an appearance at E3. The game already has a lot of buzz surrounding it with the news that the game would feature talent from games like Metal Gear Solid V and the now cancelled P.T.
Resident Evil 5: Remastered will be out on June 28th for Xbox One and PS4.
