Resident Evil 4 Remake Looks to Add More Horror and Screen Time for Side Characters

There have recently been some new details about the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 4. Details include information about certain characters receiving more screen time and even the overall feel of the game.

Fanbyte reports that “Capcom is no longer looking for a strict scene-by-scene remake of Resident Evil 4”, and is instead looking to make smaller changes that affect the tone of the game. Upon initial release, Resident Evil 4 took a more action approach and negated many of the horror scenes that have been included in previous games. In order to complete this shift, Capcom will change the timeline of the game so more portions are going to take place at night and help create a “spookier” tone. Many of these changes will actually take direct inspiration from previous Resident Evil games and even Resident Evil 4 demos that have been discarded.

In addition to shifting the game to become more horror-based, Fanbyte reported that the remake will include more screen time for some of the side characters. More specifically, the remake will “expand on Assignment: Ada and Separate Ways by combining each into one package.” By combining these two packages into one, the game will be able to create a much more fluid storyline for the companion piece. Although Fanbyte knows that the expansion will include a lot of content, they are unable to confirm whether the piece will be included in the main game or be added as a DLC option.

Capcom is hoping to release the game’s remake sometime in 2022 despite reports that it would be unavailable until 2023. This expectation comes due to the recent stretch of delays the company has experienced over recent months due to development and marketing delays. Despite the reports, the game is still fluid and nothing has officially been confirmed by the company itself.
