Resident Evil 2 Remake Hopefully Brings Back The Feel Of The Original

Last year, the remake for Resident Evil 2 was announced. Since then, we have not gotten any new details on what this remake will entail, but we do know that producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi hopes to “recapture the spirit” of the original PSone game. Hirabayashi says that he does not believe that by saying things along the lines of “Yes, I’m confident we can [recapture the feeling of the original]”, instead he said that his team is “working hard on the game at the moment and there are some reasons why I think we can recapture the spirit of the first game.” From this statement we get a sense of the amount of effort the team is putting in order to reach their hopes.

However, as seen in the first Resident Evil’s remake it is clear that it is possible to recapture that original feeling. Hirabayashi has a lot of experience with these games, since his first project at Capcom was the remastering of Resident Evil for Gamecube. Hirabayashi says that he learned a lot from that experience and how valuable the experience was for him as a whole. To help ensure that he knows the feeling that he wants to bring back he states that,

Resident Evil 2 was the first Resident Evil I played. Everyone’s experience is different but I remember how it felt to play it for the first time, and the task of bringing that to the fans all over again is a cause of daily headaches for me (laughs). Work is progressing on the game and all I can do is ask the fans to wait patiently and excited.

It is unknown what kind of experience we can expect from this remake, will the game play stick more to the original with its fixed camera angle, or will it be adapted to fit the newer third person changeable camera in Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6. The set of platforms, release date, and price have not been announced yet.
