In early December, the Japanese Resident Evil twitter account revealed that something was coming, a crossover between PlayerUnkown’s Battleground Mobile and the Resident Evil 2 remake. There wasn’t much aside from that. There was speculation that it would be like the Naughty Dog crossover where characters could get specific Uncharted and The Last of Us cosmetic pieces and weapons.
After the critical acclaim and massive success of the Resident Evil 2 remake, the crossover was somewhat forgotten as it stayed under the radar. It came back up in an explosive and exciting trailer for what’s to come:
This crossover titled “Survive Till Dawn” is a limited time event that brings forth a mode recently seen in the World War Z video game: Player versus Player versus Zombie. Though instead of just zombies that players have to worry about, it’s the familiar and iconic creatures from Resident Evil 2. This includes G (Stage 1), the Lickers, and the constant pain in everyone’s side, Mr. X/Tyrant. But what exactly happens?
This mode takes place on the Erangel Map, where the timing and set-up is a lot different. The match takes place over 30 minutes, and goes through the course of three days and two nights. During the day, the undead are fairly quiet, and the PvP part of the game takes the show. However, when nighttime comes around, all hell breaks loose. Visibility becomes near to nothing, the zombies are much more aggressive, Lickers become more common, and there’s a good chance that either G (Stage 1) and or Mr. X/Tyrant will spawn after sundown.
But that doesn’t mean that players aren’t given a fighting chance. The trailer goes over, quickly, that there are guns that are available that are highlighted in Resident Evil 2. Namely, the gatling gun that can be obtained later in the game.
If players can survive through the games, certain cosmetic items will be rewarded to them. Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy skins are the top two, as well as Ada Wong and Marvin Branagh will be available for the duration of the event.
The event is currently live, and while it is up for a limited time only, there is no actual set date of when it will be finished. PUBG Mobile is available for free on iOS and Android with the Resident Evil 2 Crossover Event happening now.
