Back in 2023, during the Microsoft vs. FTC legal case, Microsoft suffered a massive leak of highly confidential documents that began appearing online. Some of the things that were revealed include Elder Scrolls VI being an Xbox exclusive, Activision getting briefed on the Nintendo Switch 2, new updated Xbox Series X|S models, plans for next-gen in 2028, and an intention to acquire Nintendo. There was also a list of several unannounced titles which included remasters of Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Now, 2 years later, a new report suggests that the Oblivion remake will be revealed and released soon.

According to noted insider NatetheHate, and corroborated by VGC, the Oblivion remake will be revealed within the next few weeks and will be released likely before June. Sources tell VGC that it could be released as soon as next month.
The Oblivion remake is reportedly getting “fully remade” with Unreal Engine 5, with six reworked gameplay systems such as stamina, blocking, archery, hit reaction, and the HUD.
MP1ST reported that improvements to the game’s blocking system were inspired by Souls-like and action games. The sneak icons are now highlighted in the improved sneak system, and the damage calculation methods have been reworked. The stamina system was modified to be less frustrating, making the knockdown that occurs when stamina is depleted more difficult to activate through changes in the calculation methods. The HUD is changed to make it easier to understand and more aesthetically appealing to young players. Hit reactions have also been added to improve the response to damage inflicted on the player and NPCs. Archery was improved to make it more playable and modern in both first and third-person perspectives.
The remake is reportedly being developed by Virtuos, which focuses on supporting the development of major AAA games or bringing existing titles to new platforms. Virtuos has previously worked on franchises including Call of Duty, Tomb Raider, Dark Souls, BioShock, Battlefield, Uncharted, and Horizon. Virtuos is also supporting the development of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater.
