Remedy: Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake is a “Significant Undertaking”

Besides Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment has also begun the process of bringing back one of the most beloved video game characters ever, Max Payne. The studio has been working on the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake for while now and with this new tidbit of information, we’re finding out that it’s no mere port. Speaking with Video Game Chronicles, Remedy’s Sam Lake said that the remakes have been a “significant undertaking,” adding that “it’s a big, big project.”

The publication also asked, and rightly so, if Sam Lake himself will be returning to reprise his in-game role as the titular Max Payne. Lake, while finding this question flattering responded with “No comment! That’s going too far.” For those who are unaware, in the very first Max Payne title, which released back in 2007, Lake used his own likeness for the body and face of Max, which has been pointed out by fans every time he takes the stage or greets them at events.

The Max Payne 1 and Remakes were announced last year in April 2022. Since the IP is currently owned by Rockstar Games, who in turn is owned by Take-Two, the studios came together with a development agreement to create the remakes. In addition, both titles will be released as a single playthrough as opposed to their separate campaigns. For now, we still don’t have any more information on a release date, but hopefully, Remedy will fill us in on when we can get our hands on the remakes very soon.
