Remedy Entertainment recently held its investor’s presentation and talked all about its connected universe with Alan Wake, Control, and FBC: Firebreak. During the presentation, they released some details regarding the sales numbers for Alan Wake II, the type of game Control 2 will be, when we can expect Control Ultimate Edition on Mac, and more.
Talking about the highly anticipated sequel, Control 2, Remedy Entertainment revealed that similar to Alan Wake II, the sequel to Control will shift styles and will be an action-RPG. “Let people speculate, but suffice to say, Control 2 is a natural continuation to the first game, holding on to key tenets of storytelling and spectacle, but leaning even further into player agency, exploration and RPG mechanics,” Remedy told GameSpot. Remedy also said that Control 2 is being made to appeal to a wider audience, but didn’t elaborate further.
Remedy also revealed that Control Ultimate Edition will be making its way on Mac next year on February 12, 2025. There will also be a free update releasing in early 2025 which will unlock “some previously released content.”
Talking about Alan Wake II, Remedy revealed that the game has sold over 1.8 million copies.
Remedy also talked about the future and some of its other projects including their venture into TV and film. Sam Lake noted that the process is still in its “very early steps.”
“Alan Wake, Control, and Firebreak are all set in the Remedy connected universe,” Lake explained during the presentation. “Now, there are many fictional universes out there of course. But in games, an original universe that contains multiple franchises is a unique concept.” Earlier in the presentation, Lake noted that “What we create at Remedy is special, and we must never lose that.”
As for how far along these games are, Remedy says that Firebreak is in “full production,” while Control 2 is in “production readiness.”
