Someone washes up by sea and they immediately go back to the source of all their troubles, some would say that’s a batty thing to do but it’s an important part of an upcoming horror game called Locked In: The Ward, done by GES Interactive. But don’t worry, the protagonist has good reason for going back to the source of her troubles, one that you’ll have to discover as you play through the game. The upcoming game also released a Gameplay reveal trailer earlier today that adds to the mystery.
On a woody and mountainous region, a boat floats around a semi demolished dock. Laying on the grass is our amnesiac protagonist. She wakes up and looks around, introducing the first person perspective of the game as the character follows tyre tracks up into the woods, all the way to highly fortified walls that keep people at bay. She continues going to “SITE 12” , a part of the fortified building. There despite her amnesia, she’s able to recall the pin to get in, hinting that whatever it was she did or was in this place is so ingrained in her that it even overpowers her amnesia. The doors open showing a massive delivery zone, with arrows pointing at the entrance, as she walks towards it something or someone screams.
An elevator door opens showcasing a semi-ruined hospital building. Thankfully the lights are still on, and the protagonist explores the building showing us lopsided bookshelves and various states of disarray. On a table there’s a picture, the protagonist grabs it and it shows a girl in all white being held by two doctors, A visual that’s strikingly common and akin to women trapped in a mental asylum. With this grim similarity, SITE 12, has a lot to answer for, especially when the back of the picture has the words “Subject #0012” written on it, hinting at human experimentation. The protagonist plays with the Site’s light system, turning it off accidentally, and as she does so, glass breaks and she takes out her torch to survey the Site. As she looks around, a ghost passes through the exit door, and an “I see you” is heard, alongside the players’ heavy breathing. The lights pop back on and everything looks fine with nothing amiss, however as she continues going through the site, a red light comes towards her and knocks her down. You’ll find the game on PC, when it drops but for now, it’s only available to wishlist.
