Recap of What Happened at the Video Game Awards 2016

While a little lacking this year, the 2016 Video Game Awards did have its moments. Most prominent was an appearance by Michael Phelps to read out the winner of the best E Sports gamer of the year. Run the Jewels seemed to have the best performance throughout the night, with their music featured in Gears of War 4.

The original Halo Wars will be playable again as a remastered version, the reason being that 343 wants players to hone in their skills before getting their hands on Halo Wars 2. Players who pre order  the ultimate digital edition of Halo Wars 2 will be granted early access to the Definitive edition.

Surprising enough, Witcher 3 pulled out a best RPG win for their DLC content. While observing the live comments many people seemed to be a little irritated that the DLC was even included in the category. Despite what people felt, Witcher 3 has put out some great content this year with their most recent DLC Blood and Wine showed the president of what a DLC should look like.

With no surprise Overwatch received the coveted title of Game of the Year. When on Stage it was noted that players will still have plenty of content to come in the future. A special note was also made to remind players that from tomorrow till December 4th, Titanfall 2 will be free to play on Xbox One and PS4, and Origin for PC.

During the live stream, the live viewers on youtube seamed to idle around 78,000 midway through the event, probably not what they would have liked to see for such an event. Below you can find a list of the award winners.
