Mass Effect Andromeda Releases First Gameplay Trailer

It’s finally here! As they previously promised, BioWare gave gamers what they’ve long been waiting for when they showcased the first gameplay to Mass Effect Andromeda. According to Polygon, at tonight’s The Game Awards in Los Angeles, California, BioWare unveiled a lengthy five-minute video which you can watch below.

“You are the Pathfinder: part explorer, part soldier, part guide,” the trailer’s narrator explains. “It’s your job to find a new home for humanity… Resources are scarce. Planets are hazardous, or outright uninhabitable.”

According to the game’s description

Mass Effect Andromeda puts you in the role of the Pathfinder; an elite soldier, explorer and guide tasked with finding humanity a new home an uncharted galaxy. From arresting visuals and thrilling combat, to epic story and characters, Mass Effect Andromeda is truly the next generation of Action/RPG gaming.

The new gameplay video showcases some all new Andromeda gear and special powers, while also displaying some kick-ass combat. There’s also some pretty cool shots of the new ship, called The Tempest. The new ship is specifically designed to be as iconic as Shepard’s corvette carrier, the Normandy. While the gameplay shows your player starting off with a ship and the Nomad, you will actually need to craft (or steal) additional items to bolster your roster.

Mass Effect Andromeda is scheduled for release in the spring of 2017, and it will come out on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. However, EA has stated that they may delay the game if it’s in the projects best interests. Given how lackluster another previous game was this summer (No Man’s Sky), it’s probably best they don’t rush this release. Blake Jorgensen, CFO of EA, has said earlier this month that Mass Effect Andromeda is currently tracking well. He reminds everyone that although progress is going well, if push comes to shove, EA will be willing to push the launch date in order to deliver the right player experience. If the gameplay doesn’t meet BioWare’s expectations, developers would likely delay a “week” or it could be “three or four or five months” if need be.
