New Trailers Released for Mass Effect: Andromeda, Dauntless at 2016 Game Awards.

Wow, 2016 has flown by. Gamers and just people in general have been hit hard by 2016. Whether it was Harambe’s passing or the you-know-what that just ended, gamers needed a bright spot to head to 2017 in good hopes. The 2016 Game Awards happened December 1 and the winners were expected. Overwatch won Game of the Year and Pokémon Go won handheld/mobile Game of the Year. The 2016 Game Awards was more than just games winning awards, but new trailers and gameplay for upcoming games in 2017 were released, including gameplay of Mass Effect: Andromeda and  Phoenix Labs premiering  trailer for their debut game called Dauntless.

The Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay trailer starts with shots of countless settings of the game. The narrator of the trailer says that it is your goal to find a new home for humanity. Gameplay starts with the planet select screen in which the player selects the planet Kadara. The player has selected to play the female Ryder. In one scene, she is captured by some aliens and when a gun is pointed at his face, she grabs that gun and aims it back on the alien. One of the new powers that you receive is the ability to get up close to the opponent from far away at a speed that leaves a trail of a blue beam. In one fight scene, you get captured and eaten by a giant alien beast. Another scene is very Evie Frye like in which you turn invisible.

Dauntless is a co-op RPG. The trailer starts out with a presumably female protagonist. The character appears to androgynous, but for all intents and purposes, I’m going to assume that she’s female. As she’s running throughout the woods, three different characters, one by one, appear and follow her. The characters arrive at the top of a hill, where they are faced by large, black owl-like creature who crawls on four legs and can stand on its two back legs. All four characters then attack the creature, followed by a title screen.

Only one month remains until 2017, the year that all of these games come out. Here’s to a better 2017 with more games that gamers can spend countless hours on.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
