One of the most celebrated and revered shoot-em-up titles of all time is, at long last, coming to the PC platform. Radiant Silvergun will make its long-awaited debut on the PC market through Steam on August 18, marking the end of an incredibly lengthy timeframe for the title to make the leap from the home console market to PC. The PC port will be handled by Live Wire, the same studio that worked on the Nintendo Switch port. Radiant Silvergun’s Steam page is also live, which you can check here if you wanted to add it to your wish list to be notified when it becomes available.
As with the Switch edition, Radiant Silvergun comes with several different features. This includes a split-screen co-op player mode, online leaderboards, and online achievements. In addition, the Steam page for the title also explicitly states that the game can only be played with a controller, rendering keyboards and mice useless. It’s one of the few titles on Steam to only be usable with a controller, but knowing how the PC gaming community is, someone out there will try and figure out a way to make a keyboard and mouse work.
As we already mentioned, Radiant Silvergun is often considered one of the most popular shoot-em-up titles in history. The only other entry that generally comes up in that conversation is the title’s sequel, Ikaruga. Radiant Silvergun originally launched way back in 1998 for arcades in Japan. It was then ported to the ill-fated Sega Saturn that same year, just a little over 16 months before the Sega Dreamcast launched. It would not see a worldwide launch outside of Japan until 2011 when it was released on the Xbox 360 through the Xbox Game Market. Fast forward 11 years and it would be re-released again through the Nintendo Switch when it was announced during the September 2022 Nintendo Direct and launching that very day.
Radiant Silvergun will be released on PC through Steam on August 18.
