One of Steam’s popular cult classics is finally coming back after being unavailable for nearly a decade. The psychological thriller, Second Sight, originally was released in 2004 on various consoles and in 2009 came to Steam, however, due to some legal troubles it was removed in 2012 and only returned to Steam and GOG as of yesterday.
In Second Sight, players will control John Vattic as he awakes from a coma inside a medical facility after a traumatic surgery. He has no memories of who he is or how he came to be at this facility and must attempt to escape in order to survive. Players will be able to use the newfound psychic abilities that John has in order to make it through the game, which includes telekinesis, projection, and possession. Second Sight offers a variety of tactics to evade enemies includes stealth, physical weapons, as well as the use of his aforementioned psychic abilities.
Second Sight was originally developed by the TimeSplitters developer, Free Radical Design, however, they ended up declaring bankruptcy in 2012 after years of trying to stay afloat. But the reason that we are now seeing the title resurface to gaming platforms is because of THQ Nordic acquiring both TimeSplitters and Second Sight from Crytek back in 2018. As of yesterday, it was announced that Second Sight is now back on Steam. However, for those hoping for a TimeSplitters game now that it is owned by a new company, bad news.
If anyone is looking to get a blast from the past, Second Sight is available for a reasonable $9.99 on Steam. It has a strong story and unique gameplay if you can get past some of the wonky controls and camera angles.
