PS4 Update 7.00 Grants Remote Play for Android

A new update for Sony’s PS4 will roll out this week that will give players access to a variety of different features. The most prominent feature being released would have to be the rollout of official PS4 Remote Play support on Android devices. This will allow players to stream their games from console to their phone or device running android.

The feature was released earlier this year for iPhone and iPad devices but will now be accessible to all Android devices as long as they run  Android 5.0 or higher. “For those who want to stream select PS4 games on mobile devices, Remote Play can now be used on smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or higher. Just download the PS4 Remote Play App from the Google Play store to use the feature. Meanwhile, for iPhone or iPad users, the Remote Play App has been updated so you can now display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation.” Users will also be able to use their DualShock 4 wireless controllers via Bluetooth for Remote Play on an Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. All that is needed is to update to Android 10, iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina to use this feature.

Another feature that is being improved on the PS4 is the party feature. Players will now be able to contain 16 players in a chat party vs. the original 8. Other improvements will be the audio quality, and the network connectivity to the party which will hopefully lead to less dropped party sessions. Another interesting feature is the Chat description feature. “The new feature supports US English and converts party voice chat to text, or enables you to enter text that is read aloud to other party members. If using your mobile device to connect to your PS4 during a Party, you will now see a new Party tab has been added where the new functionality is available.” This is an excellent new feature that will likely support those that are deaf or hard of hearing.

All of these features are a nice jump for the PS4. The update is arriving around the world this week, so you should see it on your console soon. For more info regarding all new and updates stay connected to MXDWN Games.

Nathan Arquiette: Mom and Dad would never buy me a gaming console growing up, so I bought my own Dreamcast when I was 10 years old. Ever since then my passion for gaming went wild. Why watch a movie or read a book when you can take part in the plot playing a game was my philosophy. "Video games rot your brain" but I had a 10th grade reading level in the 6th grade all thanks to RPG's. Talking and writing about games is something I will never get tired of.
