PS4 Exclusive “A Tale of Paper” Gets a New Release Date and Trailer

Open House Games’ newest PS4 exclusive A Tale of Paper recently got new release date and a new trailer along with this announcement. As the game also won the Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain’s PlayStation Talents Award VII, the title will be released later on in October.

The game is described as an “emotional adventure” following a little paper boy named Line, who uses origami to make the dreams of his creator come true. Open House Games also describes the game as “slow-paced and deep gameplay”  that mixes puzzles and platforming, but also adds suspense and pieces of walking simulation to the mix. From the looks of the trailer, the game also looks to be more than just any 3D platformer, as it also incorporates camera scrolls that the player can take advantage of. Another important aspect of the game is that it is completely textless, as Open House Games emphasize “that visuals can be more powerful than words”.

In the newest trailer, it shows that players are able to further explore the world that the game creates. Instead of powerups, as mentioned before, Line uses origami to overcome obstacles that are in his way, but it comes with a catch. If Line chooses to transform into anything, then he can only perform one object as the thing he transforms into (for example, if he were to turn into a frog, the only thing he can do is jump). As Line uses his powers to explore the world around him, he must also face enemies such as evil spiders and Roombas, using his and the player’s wits to successfully get around them (since there is no attack aspect in the game).

A Tale of Paper is set to be released on October 21st, 2020, and be exclusively for PlayStation 4 via digital sale on the PlayStation Store. Currently, the title is priced at $14.99 USD and €14.99.
