Ever since its groundbreaking release in 2016, Niantic’s Pokémon GO has made history in the world of AR games, putting Niantic on the map. At its highest player count, Pokémon GO had approximately 232 million active users. As of November 2024, the estimated player count is 5.9 million, which is still considerable given the game’s expected decline. Regardless, Pokémon GO’s ability to retain millions of users over the years has provided Niantic with a substantial wealth of player data for various purposes, along with their additional comparably successful AR-based mobile games.

One way Pokémon GO has managed to stay relevant with fans and attract new players is through special events, which offer unique rewards and special opportunities. Pokémon GO’s upcoming event was recently announced via a post on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. The post introduces the Stunning Styles event, which is scheduled to occur from April 3 at 10am to April 7 at 8pm local time. The event will feature a special research story and include the debut of Paldean Tauros, and a bunch of stylish Pokémon.

During the Stunning Styles event players will get the chance to earn rewards like special encounters with event-themed Pokémon, Golden Razz Berries, and Kubfu Candy, as part of the Might and Mastery Special Research. Wild encounters are also more likely to feature Castform and Burmy, including their Shiny forms. Rockruff, Shellos, and Espurr, have a higher chance of showing up in one-star raids, and Rockruff might evolve to Dusk Form Lycanroc.

Completing Field Research tasks will help players encounter Pokémon, and completing Timed Research will reward players with Candy XL bonuses, Kubfu Candy, Clamperl, Espurr, and Morpeko. The event will offer players special paid options, like a paid Timed Research option at $2.00 for a Lucky Egg, a Star Piece, encounters with Shellos and Espurr, and four Premium Battle Passes, as well as the Stunning Styles Ultra Ticket Box at $1.99 for an event ticket and three bonus Max Revives.
