Pokemon Go Update Introduces Routes For Player Bonuses

Pokemon Go has added Routes in a new update, part of the Blaze New Trails Event. The update rolls out today for Pokemon Go players, giving them access to further bonuses while exploring the world.

Routes work when a player selects a starting location, either a PokeStop or Gym. The player will then record the route, and once finished, will fill out information regarding the route, and finally submitting it for a review by Niantic. Once a review of a route is accepted, it’ll be available for all players to view and follow on the Pokemon Go map. The purpose specifically for the routes, will reward players’ bonuses, such as more candies while on a specified route, incense boost, XP bonus, and an increased fill rate for Buddy Hearts.

One of the other new items specifically tied with the Route update are Zygarde Cells. These unique items allow players to change Zygarde, who can be caught after completing a special research mission “From A to Zygarde.”

Alongside Routes, the Blaze New Trails Event will have select Pokemon such as Ponyta, Lillipup, Bliztle, and others appear more frequently in the wild. As well Rockruff, Skwovet, and Falinks can hatch from 7km eggs. The Event begins July 21st and wraps up July 24th.
