Pokemon Go fans must be overjoyed with excitement as Niantic has announced a new Limited Research event for their Pokemon Go players this Saturday. Much like a Community Day, the event will start on Saturday February 23 and will run for three hours. This event will give players the opportunity to catch Clamperl, a rare and never before available Pokemon.
Throughout this research event players will be able to receive special Field Research tasks by spinning the photo disk at PokeStops. A few water Pokemon such as Krabby and Wailmer will appear more frequently during the event. Pokemon Go fans will also be rewarded with not once, but twice the usual amount of Stardust for every Water-type character they catch. Niantic also announced the event on their Pokemon Go App Twitter page.
Just like the first Limited Research Event players will be able to complete the special Field Research tasks, even after the event is over. Keep in mind they will only be distributed during the designated hours, so you may want to search at a quick pace. Niantic didn’t send this limited time research event out for nothing. After you have a long and dedicated journey of completing all of the tasks assigned, players will end with an encounter with Clamperl. The cute and aquatic Bivalve is one of the last Gen 3 Pokemon to appear yet in Pokemon Go.
Huntail and Gorbyss are two possible evolutions Clamperl can undergo. In the main games, the Pokemon will evolve into one of two forms depending on what item it’s holding when traded. However, Niantic informed its Pokemon Go audience that they won’t know the form Clamperl will take until it evolves. So, to all you Pokemon Goers make sure to catch as any Pokemon as possible during the event to get both evolutions.
Here are the events hours for each region. The event will start in The Americas and Greenland at 11 am – 2 pm PT and 2 pm – 5 pm ET. For Africa, Middle East and Europe it starts at 10 am – 1 pm UTC. Lastly, for Asia-Pacific it begins at 12 pm – 3 pm JST on February 4.
Pokemon Go has also come up with another fun adventure called the Meltan event. From now until March 4 players will have a chance to encounter a Shiny Meltan when the Mystery Box is opened. Out of generosity for their fans, Niantic decided to shorten the amount of time you can re-open the box by 3 days.
