Dreams Going Into Early Access This Spring

Today, Media Molecule has announced that Dreams will go into Early Access in the Spring. In December, Dreams went into Beta. After the Beta period was over, Media Molecule was looking for the best way to put the game in the hands of the community, so they decided to make this move.

Dreams Early Access will not have everything that will be available in the full version of the game. While they won’t have access to all the features, players will have access to 100% of the tools that Dreams has. Alongside the tools, there will be tutorials that are catered to all skill sets and levels. Media Molecule crafted arcade levels will be in the game ready to play as well. More features, tutorials, arcade levels, and assets will be added during the Early Access period as the game gets built, with a full slate of content for when the game launches.

Anyone who was a part of the Beta period and published something will be able to go back and return to them if they wish to do so. Media Molecule is using Early Access to help prioritize what they have been working on and they will get feedback from players as their needs develop and evolve over time. Siobhan Reddy, Studio Director of Media Molecule, said: “we are kicking off the live service side of Dreams, so the community can get their first look at how we’ll continue to support the game”. Unlike the Beta period where you couldn’t really share anything, you’ll be able to “stream, entertain, teach, collaborate and share to your heart’s content” in the Early Access period.

Reddy also went on and discussed who the Early Access is meant for. She says that “Early Access is for creators who want to be a part of the Dreams experience from the beginning. If you are a creator, this is definitely for you.” She continues on and states that this is a great opportunity for creators to carve out their niche. If you participated in the Beta and felt like the game wasn’t fully featured, then you might want to wait until the full release. “The most important thing is to know that the Dreamiverse is going to form around you, so if that gets you excited, Early Access is for you”.

Dreams Early Access will be available digitally through the PlayStation Store this Spring. It will be $29.99 in the US and $39.99 in Canada.
