Earlier today, the official Pokémon twitter officially announced that a new Pokémon Presents will be released on February 27th, otherwise known as Pokémon Day. This was further confirmed by a post on the official Pokémon website echoing the same information, confirming the 27th as the release date, and noting that the video will drop at 6am PST.
Pokémon Presents are usually a notable occurrence for fans, as many of the larger projects of the upcoming year are teased during these videos. According to wccftech, last year’s Pokémon Presents released the first teaser for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and the year before revealed Pokémon: Legends Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and the new Pokémon Snap. With this year’s Pokémon Presents lasting around 20 minutes, there will likely be a large amount of information to release, especially spanning the numerous projects that are currently out.
While there might not be a new announcement for a mainline Pokémon game, since Pokémon Scarlet and Violet released last year, Gameinformer notes that there are still many other projects that have been updated in the past that might be worth some acknowledgement. For starters, Pokémon has a plethora of mobile games that all have the potential for updates. Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokémon Café Remix and Pokémon GO are all projects that are still currently running that could receive new announcements on the 27th.
Furthermore, updates to preexisting games are also on the table, especially for games such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which people are still excited to see get patched with fixes to pre existing issues and additions to their rosters.
Finally, there is also the possibility of other spin-offs getting revivals in a similar sense to how Pokémon Snap did back in 2021. Sequels to series such as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Pokémon Ranger and Pokémon Rumble could be interesting. Though there are also more niche titles like Pokémon Conquest and Pokemon Revolution that are also itching for a new iterations. With Pokémon Snap’s sequel coming out two years ago, there is potential for any Pokémon side-game to get a new life.
According to Nintendolife, it is fair to say that there is not a high likelihood of a new generation being the headlining game for the Pokémon Presents. However, when they are not releasing new generations of Pokémon games, they tend to either announce rereleases of previous games, such as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, or twists on the Pokémon formula such as Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee and Pokémon: Legends Arceus. This is all to say that there is a lot of speculation about the upcoming announcements that will be made on the 27th of February, and while nobody really knows what is to come, there is a lot of excitement brewing about what could be announced on this upcoming Pokémon Day.
