After a year hiatus, PlayStation has announced the return of PlayStation Showcase, the big event revealing all the big games coming from PlayStation Studios, several big upcoming third-party games, PSVR 2, and more. Here’s everything that was revealed today at the PlayStation Showcase.
Haven Studios was one of the many studios PlayStation acquired over the last few years. Today, they have finally revealed their game, Fairgame$. It’s a fresh, modern take on the heist genre. In a nutshell, this is a thrilling competitive heist game where you join an underground movement to rob the ultra-rich and rebalance the scales.
Helldivers 2 has been officially revealed. It’s a new cooperative shooter that packs in frantic, third-person action against massive enemy mobs.
Earlier this year, EA announced a new FPS shooter revolving around magic called Immortals of Aveum. A new gameplay trailer was released during the PlayStation Showcase. In this new trailer, you get a sight of Sandrakk, the Tyrant of Rasharn and Grand Magnus of the Order of Masks, who is hellbent on conquering Lucium and winning the Everwar for the control of all magic. He is your nemesis. Sandrakk is protected by his champion: The Hand. Her lightning raids across Lucium’s borders have earned her the fear and enmity of the Immortals. She masters force magic and leads the Order of Masks. Then, we have the Morbane. He’s an Oathbroken of Kalthus who’s now part of Rasharn’s Order of Mask and Sandrakk’s Butcher. He led the siege of Lavenry, the capital of Lucium, and he did it with pure brutality and fear.
Ghostrunner II was officially announced. Players will visit more places, not only Dharma Tower. The game’s story takes place one year after the events of the first game. The people of Dharma Tower are rebuilding, commerce begins to flow, and there is hope for the future. However, with the Keymaster dead, a power vacuum develops with deadlier enemies looking to conquer Dharma tower.
Phantom Blade Zero was officially announced. The game is a e spiritual rebirth of the original Rainblood and the game developer S-GAME wanted to make. In Phantom Blade Zero, you play as Soul, an elite assassin serving an elusive but powerful organization known simply as “The Order.” Soul is framed for the murder of The Order’s patriarch, gravely injured in the ensuing manhunt, and, though his life is saved by a mystic healer, the makeshift cure will only last for 66 days. Now, he must fight against powerful foes and inhuman monstrosities, all while seeking out the mastermind behind it all before his time runs out.
Sword of the Sea has been announced. Taking place in an abandoned realm where the terrain flows in constant waves, Sword of the Sea features a brand-new movement mechanic: the Hoversword. The Hoversword controls like a snowboard, skateboard, and hoverboard all in one. Players take on the role of the Wraith resurrected in a desolate world and tasked with restoring life to it as you explore submerged ruins and the vibrant, varied cultures within.
The Talos Principle II has been revealed. The game greatly expands on the beloved original with more mind-bending puzzles to solve, new puzzle mechanics, a richer storyline, more secrets to uncover, and the biggest, weirdest world Croteam has ever built.
Neva has been revealed. It’s a new emotionally-charged adventure from the visionary team behind the breathtaking, critically acclaimed hit GRIS
Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean has been announced. The next game in the Cat Quest series adds ship sailing, an evolved combat system, and a new freely explorable world and story.
Foamstars, a new four-on-four multiplayer shooter was revealed. The game revolves around foam which can be used in multiple ways.
A new trailer was released for The Plucky Squire. The hero realizes that they are now the main character in a storybook. They must deal with this mind-blowing revelation while also grappling with a rather nasty villain who wishes to take control of their book.
Teardown is coming to PlayStation 5. It’s a voxel-based heist game where you literally tear down walls and obstacles in the environment to create shortcuts and complete objectives.
Meal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially announced.
Towers of Aghasba was revealed. players can build vast settlements and grow sprawling ecosystems on their fantasy island. Express your creativity by developing your island in any way you want, while striking a balance between advancing your civilization and maintaining the island’s ecosystem.
The new launch trailer for Final Fantasy XVI was released. We see the harsh circumstances faced by the Bearers, those born with the ability to cast magicks at will. And we see the truth that lies behind the Mothercrystals, long supposed to have bestowed blessings upon humanity… The trailer offers a glimpse of the first steps Clive Rosfield, the protagonist of the game, takes along a path that will see him take up his sword to resist his cruel fate. We also see the turmoil faced and the resolve shown by the Dominants, individuals blessed with the ability to call upon the dread power of the Eikons.
The first look at Alan Wake II has been revealed. The game follows a string of ritualistic murders which threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by the Pacific Northwest wilderness. Saga Anderson, an accomplished FBI agent and the co-leading protagonist and second playable character with a reputation for solving impossible cases, arrives to investigate the murders. Soon the events spiral into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that start to come true around her. Somehow the events seem to lead to Alan Wake, the horror writer who went missing 13 years ago. The game is set to release on October 17, 2023.
The first gameplay footage of Assassin’s Creed Mirage was shown. The game is set to release on October 12.
Revenant Hill was officially announced. The year is 1919. After the barn he was living in burns down, Twigs the cat takes up residence in a wet log near an abandoned graveyard. When the owl from the next hill over starts demanding rent, Twigs must find a way to make ends meet, and things just get more complicated from there.
A new trailer for Street Fighter 6‘s fighting grounds mode was released. Players will interact with 18 legendary masters like Chun-Li and Ryu as they travel through open-world areas they customize their own personal avatar by mixing and matching fighting styles and special moves.
Tower of Fantasy has been announced to be coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 this Summer.
Dragon’s Dogma II was officially revealed. The new trailer provides fans with the first look at the richly detailed and deeply explorable fantasy world created using immersive physics, character AI and the latest in graphics from Capcom’s RE ENGINE. The trailer also introduced some of the key characters the Arisen will encounter as they forge their destiny.
New PSVR 2 games were showcased. We got the first look at the VR mode for Resident Evil 4. Arizona Sunshine II was announced. A new look at Crossfire Sierra Squad. A new trailer for nDreams’ Synapse. The first look at Beat Saber for PSVR 2 was announced. It’s available now.
Bungie’s new title, Marathon was revealed. Marathon is a sci-fi extraction shooter which will find players engaging one another as cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC will full crossplay and cross save between platforms to PC. Bungie also released the first trailer for Destiny 2’s The Final Shape. The trailer revealed Cayde-6’s return to the fight against the Darkness. The full reveal of The Final Shape is set for August 22, 2023.
Firewalk Studios was another acquisition from PlayStation. It was revealed that there are working on a new multiplayer game That game is revealed to be Concord, a new PvP multiplayer fps coming to PS5 and PC.
Project Q has been officially revealed. Official PS buds were also revealed.
Lastly, a new look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was revealed. There were two trailers shown off. The first officially reveals Kraven the Hunter who narrated the announcement trailer back in 2021. The gameplay reveal trailer showcased both Miles and Peter, each with new tools in their arsenal. It’s set to release later this year in the Fall.
