During the PlayStation Showcase, Ubisoft announced the release date for Assassin’s Creed: Mirage to be on October 12. Taking place in the Golden Age of Baghdad, players will play as Basim, to explore the city and carry out missions. “Discover a narrative-driven action-adventure experience that follows the transformation of a defiant young man into a refined Master Assassin with a conflicted destiny. Meet an inspiring cast of characters who will shape Basim’s destiny and may be more than what they seem.” Staying true to the previous Assassin’s Creed games, players can parkour throughout the city and use stealth to complete contracts. Players will “become the most versatile Assassin in franchise history. Parkour seamlessly through the city and leverage the largest assortment of tools to date. Get contracts at the Assassin’s bureaus, collect vital clues, and stealthily take down targets with more visceral assassinations than ever before.”
Players will play in a city that has different districts, the two that were stated on the game’s website are an industrial district called Karkh and the lush gardens of the Round City. “Discover surprising world events and interact with historical figures that shaped the Golden Age of Baghdad.” Ubisoft mentions that players will “experience a modern take on the features and gameplay that have defined the franchise for 15 years.” Currently, only two characters have been revealed so far, Basim and Roshan, though there are two more unnamed characters on the game’s website. Basim is from Samarra, but grew up in the streets of Baghdad alone, aspiring to join the Hidden Ones. Roshan became a master assassin in the Hidden Ones and takes Basim under her wing as her first apprentice.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is available for preorder and will be released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation5, PlayStation4, EPIC, Ubisoft Connect, and Amazon Luna.
