It’s been a while since we heard about Arkane Studio’s upcoming IP Deathloop. The game was delayed to the Second Quarter of 2021, but no official date was ever given by the developer. Well, it looks like that date may have been leaked, as the New Zealand PlayStation Store’s listing shows that the game will launch on May 21, 2021. The game will launch as a timed-exclusive on the PlayStation 5 for home consoles, while also being available for PC.
While the listing shows us a release date, neither Arkane nor their parent company Bethesda have made this date official with any sort of announcement at this time. However, considering that the listing has yet to be taken down, there’s a very good possibility that May 21, 2021, is the actual launch date for Deathloop. As we already mentioned, the game was delayed to 2021, which meant that the studio could’ve been working on making this a potential launch title for the PlayStation 5, which comes out this week. Unfortunately due to the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic, this ended up not happening.
It’s only a matter of time until Deathloop arrives on Microsoft’s new system the Xbox Series X/Series S, as it is timed-exclusive to the PlayStation 5. This will be an even bigger factor considering the earth-shattering purchase that Microsoft made when they bought Zenimax Media for $7.5 billion. Zenimax, which is the umbrella company that owns Bethesda Softworks, which in turn is the parent company for Arkane Studio’s and a number of other subsidiaries, will more than likely be making a whole slew of exclusive titles for the Xbox Series X/Series S in the foreseeable future. Hopefully, we hear more on this supposed release date for Deathloop from either Arkane or Bethesda, but for the moment, it’s looking like this will be the launch day for the title.
