Just today, PixelOpus, an in-house Sony Interactive Entertainment developer, released new information about the upcoming action-adventure game Concrete Genie. The game which was initially slated for a release this spring will now be released in October.
Concrete Genie is an interactive adventure game in which the player travels the fictional town of Denska and searches for the missing sketches from their art-pad. The player must return life to the town by painting the town, so to speak, and avoid both bullies and monsters. The game has two Playstation VR modes as well.
The story of the game follows the player as they try to reclaim all the sketches from their art book after they were attacked by bullies. The player is armed with a magic paint-brush that imbues life into whatever it paints as well as let allowing them to use a multitude of skills, most of which have yet to be revealed. One that has been revealed, paint-skating lets the player quickly travel from place to place on skates made of glowing paint.
The game also features a photo mode that allows players to photograph their work and publish it. The game will let players create time-lapsed videos that show the development of their art and their progress of painting the town. Regarding this feature, Dominic Robilliard, the Creative Director at PixelOpus had this to say, “Once you’ve lined up your shot, you can press a button and it will replay, like a timelapse, all of your painted elements,” Robilliard would continue with, “It’s something we just can’t stop playing with, it’s so much fun.”
Concrete Genie will be released exclusively for the PS4 on October 8th, and will be available for $29.99 for the stand-alone game, and $39.99 for the Digital Deluxe version which includes a digital art book, a Pond Design Pack, and a Dynamic theme.
