Planet MiniGolf Sequel Will Be Playable in VR

Developer Zen Studios announced today that their next mini-golf game, titled Infinite MiniGolf, will be available on various virtual reality devices, as well as on the standard consoles.

The announcement confirms that Infinite MiniGolf, which has been available on Steam Early Access for a few months now, will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation VR some time this spring.  The game will also be getting Vive VR support on Steam at launch, day in date with the console launch; it is not yet clear how the VR version of the game will differ from the standard version, but the post does state that more features and information will be revealed in the future, as they “have not even gone in depth about VR.”

Infinite MiniGolf has seen a number of changes while in the Steam Early Access phase, and Zen Studios had the following message for players:

Zen would like to send a big THANK YOU, to everyone who played Planet Minigolf. An even BIGGER thank you goes out to all the players who took time to send us feedback and ideas over the years, and more recently on Steam Early Access, which has helped to make an ever better Minigolf game.

The remainder of the announcement focuses on the course editor and multiplayer aspects of Infinite MiniGolf, carried over and improved from its predecessor Planet MiniGolf.  Course customization in Infinite MiniGolf will feature more tools and options, as well as a more inuitive UI; additionally, there will now be a more organized hole browser to allow players to organize and sort through the thousands of player-submitted holes, something that was sorely needed in the 80,000+ hole library of Planet MiniGolf.

Multiplayer will also be a “huge focus” in Infinite MiniGolf, with a new multiplayer system allowing up to 8 players to compete against each other on player-created courses, as well as the introduction of tournaments to the game.

Zen Studios will be sharing updates on Infinite MiniGolf on both their own blog as well as the official PlayStation blog as development continues.
