Pillars of Eternity Mod Brings Loads of Customization

A new mod for Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity presents players with a near-encyclopedic level of customization.

The game already features a dearth of customization options, both with how players want to represent themselves within the game and how players want the game to be presented to them. Yet this clearly wasn’t to some gamers’ satisfaction, and so we now have the IE Mod.

Essentially a collection of many, many smaller mods, the IE Mod allows players to customize the game’s UI even further. Just about any element of the in-game interface can be dragged anywhere on the screen. You could, for instance, have your party members’ portraits at the top of the screen, rather than the default bottom left. Or, if you’re feeling slightly mad, you could scatter everything haphazardly across the screen with no rhyme or reason. It’s entirely up to you.

Beyond that, the IE mod also allows players to remove a combat mechanic in Pillars, namely the penalty that melee characters suffer if they try to break away from an engagement. This feature is entirely optional, given that it is quite significant to defining Pillars‘ real time combat.

There’s also a neat feature to have the game autosave *before* entering a new area, the ability to loot items during combat, and graphical tweaks that adjust the selection circle beneath party members’ feet.

It’s a neat mod for the most hardcore of hardcore Pillars of Eternity players, and it’s available on the game’s Nexus page.
