Pillars of Eternity 2 Gets More Free DLC With Crew Members and Upgrades

Pillars of Eternity 2 has been receiving a string of free DLC, most recently the Scalawags Pack. This latest add-on comes alongside the game’s next major patch, adding a handful of new features and upgrades to Pillars 2.

In the way of content, the Scalawags Pack includes seven new crew members added to the taverns of the Deadfire Archipelago for you to recruit. It also comes with six new ship upgrades; this means that different types of sails, cannons, anchors, and other attachable items can be purchased in-game for players’ ships. The new supplies will be added to shipwrights’ inventories throughout the game. Finally, the DLC comes with a new personality setting for your Watcher, this one called the ‘savage’ personality type. It should be an interesting setting to play with, if you’re the kind of player looking to give your next Pillars character (or current protagonist, for that matter) a sinister pose to match their attitude.

On the patch side of things, Patch 1.1.1 addresses a couple of major crash issues, and a few quest-related bugs. You can check out Obsidian’s full list of patch notes on Pillars 2‘s Steam page.

The Scalawags DLC comes not long after the Rum Runner’s Pack in May, and the extended Beard and Hair Pack at the beginning of June. Similarly to Scalawags, the Beard and Hair Pack—which also offered a new personality setting, ‘energentic’—came with an even larger patch update. That one, Patch 1.1.0, contained many customization and ease-of-use upgrades for the game. Players can now improve their character’s appearance at any time (perfect for that ‘savage’ setting), change specific visual settings including weather effects, lights, and combat text, skip the game’s intro if you’ve seen if before, and more easily purchase ship supplies from vendors. The full patch notes for that one, if you haven’t explored this upgrade yet, are available here.

We have also reported on the game’s more costly story-oriented DLC, the first of which is coming in the near future. Pillars of Eternity 2 is available now for PC, Mac and Linux; it’ll release for consoles in the final quarter of 2018.
