Phasmophobia Coming to Home Consoles This Summer, Will Support Cross-Play

One of the most entertaining horror/suspense titles in recent years is making its way to the home console market. Developer Kinetic Games has announced that Phasmophobia will be coming to consoles this Summer sometime in the month of August in the form of Early Access. In addition, the game will also be coming to the PSVR 2 and will support cross-play across all available platforms. This will greatly expand and make the multiplayer much more accessible as many have already played or own the title on PC, giving newcomers a chance to play with their PC counterparts.

As we already mentioned, Phasmophobia was one of the biggest indie titles to make a serious splash in not just the horror gaming community, but the overall industry in general. The title launched via Early Access in Fall 2020 during the initial height of the COVID-19 Pandemic and quickly began turning heads with it’s intense suspense and scare tactics. The title’s popularity shot through the roof during October, most likely due to it being the month of Halloween, and catapulted it to Steam’s top seller list and even kept the number one spot for several weeks.

In the following months, Phasmophobia received some updates and new content. This includes the update that lets the ghosts track the players voices on their microphones, which is only the most horrifying thing ever. The title also got some more ghosts and new area to hunt in one year after it went live. All of this, and probably even more, will be in the hands of not just PC players, but also console players very soon. The most intriguing part about this is that the title is also coming to the PSVR 2. The game is already scary enough, we can’t imagine playing through it with a virtual reality headset. Then again, it just might be one of the more quintessential ways to enjoy this game. Either way, we won’t have to wait long to find out.

Phasmophobia will release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and the PSVR 2 this August.
