PC Gamer has officially announced that their upcoming online event, the PC Gaming Show, has been postponed until June 13, which is the end of next week. The event was originally scheduled to take place this coming Saturday on June 6 as part of IGN’s month-long Summer of Gaming event. PC Gamer is just one of many companies to delay or postpone an upcoming event in show of support for the ongoing protests in the United States over the Black Lives Matter movement. Sony’s PlayStation 5 Reveal event, which was supposed to happen this week, was also postponed to show more support.
As you can see in the message above, it’s very clear what their stance is on this: “Right now, we want to make space for those speaking out and demonstrating about how to end the systemic oppression and police brutality experienced by black people.” In addition to this, GamesRadar’s Future Games Show and the Guerrilla Collective will also be moved to later dates in the month of June as well. Both events will be working in tandem with PC Gamer, which will include special reveals and gameplay trailer made specifically for the PC Gaming Show. Other developers and companies who have shown support for the protesters include Activision, Epic Games, and Rockstar Games.
We can tell you from firsthand experience that the PC Gaming Show will be worth the wait. Despite having an E3 type atmosphere, the majority of games, presenters, and reveals are done with some tongue-in-cheek humor, as well as showing off new IP’s that we wouldn’t have expected to see in other conferences. Plus, with the combined efforts of the Future Games Show and the Guerrilla Collective, we expect even more exciting things to happen during these events. The PC Gaming Show will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2020.
