Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, Road 96, Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield, Last Stop, & More Showcased During The Latest Indie World Showcase

Yesterday, Nintendo announced that another Indie World Showcase would be coming today sharing the first look at some of the indie games coming to Nintendo Switch. These range from new games to games you may have heard before but no release date had been given yet. Here is a rundown of the games that were showcased today.

Road 96 is an ever-evolving story-driven adventure inspired by Tarantino, The Coen Brothers, and Bong Joon-ho. There will be moments of action, exploration, contemplative melancholy, human encounters, and wacky situations set against a backdrop of authorian rule and oppression. Road 96 features a stunning visual style, a soundtrack filled with 90s hits and a thousand routes through the game so each player creates their own unique stories.

Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield is a 3d side-scroller runner that has players take on the role of Wally as he tries to survive a futuristic Tokyo-style Detriot after uncovering evidence that will change the city forever. Players will run, jump, slide, or dash for acrobatic variants that leads to dope combinations and avoid the challenges that await. The game’s soundtrack is being done by “Danime-Sama”, a Detroit artist with vocals from artists from all over the world.

“This project began as just a passion project I started on my own to create something familiar but new for this generation of gamers while highlighting aspects of a culture that is often overlooked,” Aerial Knight said.

Last Stop is a single-player third-person adventure set in present-day London that tells three interconnected tales featuring three playable characters. The game is fully voice acted, featuring hours of dialogue and a voice cast of dozens with performances from some of the brightest talent in the UK today.

Donna is a spaced-out high-schooler who feels trapped by her stifling home life and her overprotective big sister. Away from home, Donna seeks teenage thrills with her friends Becky and Vivek but gets more than she bargained for when the trio becomes unexpected kidnappers in a game of amateur detective gone wrong.

John is an overworked middle-aged single dad. Burdened with debt and the pressures of being an only parent, John jealously pines after the free and easy life of his twenty-something bachelor neighbor Jack. When the pair unwittingly fall foul of a vengeful stranger, a cursed artifact threatens to transform their lives forever.

Meena is a ruthlessly ambitious professional struggling to find the same satisfaction with her family as she does with her work. As Meena vies with an upstart colleague for a crucial promotion, something ancient stirs in the basement beneath her workplace.

Hindsight is a narrative exploration game spanning the entirety of a woman’s life from birth to present day, as she tries to make sense of it all. Revist her childhood home, sort through personal belongings, and step through windows to memories frozen in time. The game asks you to slow down and pay attention to the little things left behind. Piece these things together and shift your viewpoint until you find just the right perspective to pull you deeper into the past.

OlliOlli World is the third game in the OlliOlli series and puts you in the vivid and vibrant world of Radland. You’ll take on missions, challenges, and make new friends along the way. You can customize your character’s looks, tricks, and style while you experience explorable levels with multiple paths that provide an array of opportunities for player expression. The game combines super tight controls and highly refined gameplay to ensure a silky smooth ride.

The Longing has players take on the role as a lonely Shade, the last servant of a king who ruled an underground kingdom. After falling asleep after his power’s faded, the Shade has to wait for 400 days for the king to wake up. The countdown starts as soon as the game starts and will even continue counting down as you stop and even exit the game. You could start the game and come back 400 days later or explore the caves and collect items for your comfortable underground living room.

There is No Game: Wrong Dimension is a point & click comedy adventure that will take you on a journey you never asked to go on, through silly and unexpected video game universes. The game features a point & click comedy adventure, incredible 3d graphics that are flat, completely flat, and very pixelated, almost fully voiced, solve riddles that require you to think “outside the box”, hint system included because you can’t think “outside the box”, shorter than an MMORPG, which leaves you plenty of time to finish some real good games, discover the top 10 best walls, motion sickness free, tons of bugs… but it’s supposed to be like that, and more.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was announced earlier this year and a new look at the game was revealed today. The game features gnarly game design that takes you back to the 80s, beautiful full-color pixel art graphics, and old-school gameplay with super-fresh mechanics. The game can be played with up to four players simultaneously as you can play with iconic TMNT characters and vehicles in diverse gameplay options.

The game has the turtles battling across a righteous range of timeless TMNT locations after Bebop and Rocksteady assault Channel 6 and steals some gnarly devices to support Krang and Shredder’s latest twisted plan. Along the way, Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael will have to fight foot soldiers, triceraton warriors, and rock troops.

Cris Tales will be releasing on July 20, 2021. The game is a love letter to classic JRPGs with a unique combination of branching stories, innovative combat, and classic RPG gameplay. The game follows Crisbell and her companions as they fight against the Time Empress and her forces as they threaten to bring about a cataclysm tearing apart Crystallis and the other four Kingdoms of the region. The game features unique time magic to overcome your enemies. You can send them into the past to face their weaker, younger selves; to the future where they’ve succumbed to all the damage, or create your own strategies.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon combines intense roguelite hack-and-slash action with a stunning dark fantasy world brought to life through the stroke of traditional Japanese art. The game has you descend into the underworld while mastering a variety of unique weapons and equipment combinations.

GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon features highly strategic action based on the unique spacing and timing aspects of Japanese martial arts, 10 beautiful and harrowing Ukiyo-e style stages, fearsome bosses, and a diverse range of weapons that can be paired to suit a variety of playstyles.

Aztech Forgotten Gods is a cyber-stone action-adventure that follows Achtli, a young woman who battles the colossal Forgotten Gods. In order to uncover the truth behind her far-future Mesoamerican metropolis, she’ll have to turn the Gods’ power against them, as she soars through the city with power and grace.

Skul: The Hero Slayer follows Skul on his quest to single-handedly take on the Imperial Army and rescue his King from captivity. The game is an action-packed rogue-lite 2d platformer that features 90 characters and abilities that can be equipped by switching heads. Each head comes with a different ability.

Oxenfree came out in 2016. Developed by Night School Studio, the game is a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. One of the main features of the game was the conversation system that changes the story and relationships based on every decision. The radio mechanic allows you to communicate with mysterious specters and manipulate the world.

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals picks up five years after the events of the first game as Riley returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate mysterious radio signals. What she finds is more than she bargained for.
