Overview Trailer for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Reveals 12 Sports and More Minigames

Sports games have been a staple of the medium ever since they were first introduced on the earliest consoles. This is especially true for Nintendo, who not only have numerous sports games featuring their iconic characters like Mario, but have also released games compiling numerous sports together in one game. Now, just like Wii Sports received a massively expanded version in Wii Sports Resort, Nintendo Switch Sports will be traveling to an island in the form of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort. Originally announced in the June Direct, the game has now received a new overview trailer breaking down what fans can expect from the release.

The trailer introduces players to Woohoo Island, a resort where players can explore and participate in a total of twelve different sports. These include boxing, table tennis, archery, tennis, volleyball, bowling, basketball, golf, thumb wrestling, skateboarding, power cruising, prop plane, and jump rope, which each offer a unique gameplay challenge based on the Switch 2’s motion controls. The trailer also shows off the island champions, who sit at the top of the island crown mode, a series of increasingly difficult games in each of the featured sports.

In addition to the main sports, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort also includes minigames that build on the base sports to test specific skills. These include versions of table tennis where players need to knock over cans at different positions, and bowling games with 100 pins. The overview trailer goes over the ability to explore the island on land, sea, and air to explore and collect photos. The points gained from playing the various game modes can then be turned in for items.

The final reveal of the trailer was the ability to play multiplayer locally and online, with opportunities to work together or compete. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22nd.
