While we wait for Gears of War 4, the good people at Game Informer have given us an closer look of who our main heroes will be in the series next big entry. The story of Gears of War 4 takes place 25 years after the events of 3, so it’s a new generation of heroes that will fight on a fallen Earth.
Our main protagonist is JD Fenix, son of the series last hero Marcus Fenix. JD ran away from home to join the COG army, only to go AWOL after some events that will be revealed in the game. I’m sure the game will also explain why JD has that tween guy haircut, we will soon find out. JD Fenix is voiced by Liam McIntyre, who’s known for his TV roles on shows like Spartacus and The Flash.
The next protagonist is Kait Diaz, a survivor born outside of protected walled cities. Kait is part of a group called The Outsiders and forms an alliance with JD. Kait is voiced by Laura Bailey, who’s provided her voice for Halo 5: Guardians, World of Warcraft, and Dragon Ball Z. As Bailey said about Kait “What’s interesting about her is that she grew up as an outsider, so she’s been away from this military environment that the boys grew up in…She has a less technical approach to everything she does because she’s never experienced anything like this.”
Finally we have Delmont “Del” Walker, another ex-COG soldier and old friend of JD. Both Del and JD were involved in the incident that made them go AWOL. Del is voiced by Eugene Byrd, who has done voice work for Battlefield: Hardline and is a recurring cast member on Arrow.
While the characters will be suited up in the iconic COG armor, the picture of all of them in their regular clothes looks like an Urban Outfitters Catalog. We’ll get to know these characters better when Hipsters of War 4 releases on the XBOX One later this year.
