Capcom’s upcoming game Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming in September of this year. However, the date has been pushed up to release earlier in the month, going from September 25th, to September 4th. The announcement was recently made on June 2nd on the game’s official X account, leaving many fans of the Onimusha series even more excited for the game’s eventual release.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword was announced during Playstation’s State of Play this year, in a trailer showing both the premise and gameplay of the latest game in the series. The previous game of the series to be released was Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, which released March 7th of 2006. With over twenty years between both of these games, the fans of the Onimusha series have certainly been waiting patiently for their next game’s release.
the newest installment within the Onimusha series showed quite a bit during the reveal trailer. The story will follow Miyamoto Musashi, one of the greatest Japanese swordsmen of all time, battling against occult magic and supernatural beings. Some gameplay was shown throughout the trailer as well, which presented some platforming, that classic hack-and-slash combat, and a boss fight against a massive oni. Onimusha fans certainly have a lot to look forward to in terms of both gameplay and story alike, it seems.

About two months from now, players will be exploring Edo-era Kyoto and facing off against magic and monsters as the legendary Musashi himself.
