Norman Reedus Might Have Confirmed a Sequel For Death Stranding

In a recent interview for Leo Edit, Walking Dead star and lead for Hideo Kojima’s ambitious 2019 Death Stranding, Norman Reedus, has seemingly confirmed production has started for a sequel to Death Stranding. Within the interview, when asked about his future plans due to Walking Dead currently filming the show’s last season; his debut novel, The Ravaged, being recently published; and his filming for Death Stranding; Reedus concisely responded with, “We just started the second one.” While Reedus is slightly vague about whether the next project is a second collaboration with Kojima, due to Reedus immediately discussing his relationships with legendary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and Kojima, but it could also be confirmation that a second Death Stranding is in the works.

Now, if Reedus did in fact confirm a second Death Stranding, it does not mean fans can expect a video game similar to the original due to Kojima’s notoriously unique approach to video game design. For instance, back in 2019, Kojima stated in Vulture interview that if he was going to make a Death Stranding sequel, he would “start from zero.” What most inferred from what Kojima said was that the sequel to Death Stranding would possibly be linked through similar themes or setting rather than a direct sequel with the same storyline and characters.

Therefore, Reedus might not be the reprised star as some might expect, but instead, he might be a side character. However, the is pure speculation and should be met with some hesitation, but that is what is to be expected from the constantly enigmatic head of Kojima Productions. 10 days ago, Kojima posted picture on twitter of some arranged toys with the caption “Experimenting”, and some fans theorize that Kojima must be working on a new project since he is known to use toys during development.
