Nintendo Switch Online Adds Two Classic Zelda Titles Today

Nintendo’s subscription service, Switch Online, has today added two classic Zelda games from the Game Boy library. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages are out today for players who subscribe to the service. The two games were released on the Game Boy Color in 2001, developed by Flagship, a subsidiary of Capcom.

In The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages, Link sets off to save the Land of Labrynna, where specific challenges await in which Link can use of his ability of time travel to advance past certain obstacles. In Oracle of Ages, Link is tasked with stopping the sorceress Veran. Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons had Link travel to the Land of Holodrum where he must stop Onox a general seeking ultimate power. In Oracle of Seasons, Link can use his ability of changing through the seasons to get past specific environmental puzzles.

Both Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons acted as linked games, wherein they shared a similar ending. Both games can be played individually or one after the other. What makes the game’s unique, is if a player finishes one of the titles, the ending provides a specific password that can be entered into the other title. The password will then change enemies, story parts, items, and act as a ‘true ending’ for the overall games.

The addition of Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons is a welcome addition, as the Game Boy Color lineup on Switch Online has been rather lacking.

Nintendo Switch Online launched in 2018 as a subscription service offering players access to online multiplayer, NES, SNES, Game Boy games and more depending on the tier purchased.
