Nintendo Shows Off New Amiibos For Zelda: Breath Of The Wild And Mario

Nintendo didn’t have a formal Direct conference this year but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a ton of announcements made. One such announcement was about the new Zelda game, Breath of The Wild getting its own amiibos.

If you are unfamiliar, amiibos are tiny figures modeled after popular Nintendo characters and have a nominal effect on whatever game they interact with.

But who cares, they look cool.

Zelda: Breath Of the Wild will be getting three special amiibos which you can check out below.

Going from left to right we have Link firing his bow, one of the new Guardian enemies we saw in the announcement trailer last year at E3 and Link riding Epona. Of the three, the Guardian amiibo is the most interesting because it’s the only amiibo with moveable parts (its legs). Currently the functionality of these figures is unknown.

Fans who picked up Twilight Princess HD will be able to use their Wolf Link amiibo in the game. According to a press release Game Informer got their hands on, player can summon Wolf Link to help them in battle.

When players tap a Wolf Link amiibo to the Wii U GamePad controller, Wolf Link will attack enemies on his own and help players to hunt. He has three hearts, unless players carry over save data from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. Wolf Link disappears when his hearts run out.

Nintendo also announced that Waluigi, Boo and Daisy would be getting their own amiibos, as well as Rosalina, Donky Kong, and Diddy Kong getting new poses. Presumbably these figures will function identically to their counter parts, but right now it’s not clear.

No word on when these amiibos will be out, we will update this article if more information becomes available.
