Nintendo Now Officially Selling Refurbished Consoles

Due to the (unseen) shortage to Nintendo Switches to match the high demand, Nintendo has now started selling refurbished consoles directly from their store. Most notably, Nintendo is offering the NES Classic and the SNES Classic, which were soon discontinued after their original release in 2016 and 2017.

These old and classic models are said to have everything needed to play (including one controller, an HDMI cable, and any pre-installed games), “Though they might come with some minor cosmetic blemishes.” Theses refurbished consoles will also come with the standard Nintendo 1 year warranty, but they continue to guarantee that everything sold is fully functional. Currently, on their site, Nintendo is offering

• SNES Classic for $70 USD 

• NES Classic- $50 USD 

• (New) Nintendo 3DS XL (Red)- $120 USD

• Nindento 2DS (Blue and Red) – $50 USD 
• (New) Nintendo 2DS XL (Black, White, Orange, and Turquoise)- $100 USD 

Unfortunately, the Nintendo website is sold out of both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch red and blue Joy-cons they were offering, however, they do sometimes get some refurbished ones on their official eBay page that are not always listed on the website. For those still looking, however, GameStop has some in stock in turquoise and grey. If GameStop happens to be sold out though, they and BestBuy regularly update their stocks so it should hopefully be no problem finding one between the two sellers.

There is also no sale of pre-owned games from the Nintendo website as well ( and apparently no plans in the future do to so). Games for these consoles (though probably pre-owned) can be found at GameStop, Amazon, and sometimes Best Buy. In the realm of games, the actual push for releasing new games on the Nintendo Switch has been slow recently. As Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to update and dominate the Nintendo market, other titles such as Moon (1997) and other vintage remastered games are making their way onto the device digitally. Pokemon Go has seen a large profit gain for this quarter as well, even before the annual Pokemon Go Fest 2020.
