Next Level Virtual Reality Gaming: Facebook Introduces Oculus Quest First All-in-One VR Gaming System For Its VR Helmet

The Oculus Quest all-in-one has officially been announced recently as Facebook’s first VR all-in-one. The Oculus Quest starts at $399 and is now being sold in 23 countries. Consumers can order through Oculus’s official website. With Facebook’s release of its newest gaming system Oculus Quest, let’s take a look at the trailer:

The Facebook VR Developer, Barra Hugo, introduced three social interactive features of Oculus: Oculus TV, Oculus Rooms, and Oculus Venues, showing this VR helmet has become more and more apparent as Facebook future social exploration.

Oculus TV is a new virtual home theater application, which allows multiple people to watch Hulu, Showtime, Netflix, ESPN, and other video content simultaneously in VR. “Oculus TV is like having a huge virtual TV in the living room, which is equivalent to a 180-inch screen in reality. Users can use the controller to change channels and can choose to broadcast live or on-demand content. You can invite friends and relatives around the world to have a VR party no matter how far you are.” said Hugo.

Oculus Rooms is a virtual game center, offering a visual place for users to play board games together. They have partnered with Hasbro to launch branded board games such as Boggle and Trivial Pursuit, and it has great potential to breathe new lives into board games such as DnD. Imagine how cool a VR Dungeons and Dragons would be.

Oculus Venues is a virtual event application. You can visually watch live events such as concerts and sports with your friends. Oculus has been working with companies such as NextVR, Lionsgate, and NBA to bring video and live events into virtual reality. These three social interactive features have demonstrated Facebook is positioning VR headset Oculus Quest as its new medium for Facebook to expand social functions.

Stephanie Llamas, vice president of strategy and Superintendent of market research firm SuperData, also made predictions at the scene by saying Oculus Quest will sell 1.8 million units in the next three quarters, and it is expected that there will be a substantial increase in sales during the holiday period. In terms of battery life, Oculus Quest can play about 2 hours of VR games at full power, while running for about 2.5 hours watching streaming video since it consumes slightly less power.

In addition, the Oculus Quest also has built-in audio and an integrated microphone, and provides a 3.5 headphone port; the helmet itself is also optimized for improved wearing comfort. Facebook claims that Oculus Quest has more than 1000 available VR games and applications.
