Sonic Team Announces New Mobile Game

The next installment of the Sonic the Hedgehog series was announced this week in Japan, called Sonic Runners. Instead of being released on next gen consoles, Sonic Runners will be released for mobile sometime next year.

Details on the new Sonic mobile game are not quite clear, but the Sonic Team confirmed that more information will be released this upcoming January. This announcement comes on the heels of the franchises latest bust, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, which received mostly negative reviews. Many players reported numerous bugs, glitches, and overall poor development of the game.

Releasing Sonic Runners on mobile is nothing new for the franchise. A number of apps featuring our favorite blue hedgehog have already been released for smart phones and tablets. Hopefully with this new mobile app, Sonic fans will get some redemption from the previous two failed Sonic Boom games. Also we wish you all of you a safe and Happy New Year! Thank you for all your continued support.

Daniela Drook: Daniela's fascination of video games began with her first Super Nintendo console at the tender age of 6, exploring the adventures of Link with Zelda: Link to the Past and Goofy from Goof Troop: Goofy and Max Adventures. From there her love of gaming only grew moving on to more advanced consoles such as the Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation, PC, and later on Xbox. These days you can catch Daniela battling guardians in the crucible or enemies plaguing the world of Destiny on PS4. She is currently studying to become a software engineer in hopes of one day developing her own game. Please feel free to interact with her on twitter.
